Want a High Paying Job and Stable Career? Go to Med School
The idea that medical school will provide you with a path to a high-paying job is nothing new. After getting your physician’s license, you are off to a career with a high salary. Those with specializations can earn a lot more money, especially if the specialization requires more skill, such as neurosurgery. The road towards such a career is not that easy, though. Med school is not something anyone can trifle with.
The long road
So, you want a high-paying job and a stable career. Going to med school can provide you with the means to achieve your goals. However, it will take years and years to get to that point in your career. You need to earn your undergraduate degree. That will be four years minimum. Then you have to go through another four years in medical school. It is not even over yet after that. You need to specialize in a medical field you prefer best. Specialization can last from 3 to 8 years, depending on the field. If medicine is passion though, the years can be fun and fulfilling.
The possible salaries
As mentioned earlier, specializations such as neurosurgery may pay more than the others. A neurosurgeon has an average income of a little more than half a million dollars a year. Most of the medical specializations rack up salaries with six figures. However, a neurosurgeon’s annual earnings are really something to vie for. Some neurosurgeons even report salaries of more than $900,000 a year. Compare this with an obstetrician gynecologist’s average salary of more than $200,000 or an ENT’s average salary of over $300,000. Those in family practice and working in emergency cases earn only over $200,000. No matter what the specialty, however, there can be no denying that being a doctor is very lucrative. So, better go for the field that you most enjoy and are most comfortable with. If you are successful in a field, the more likely you will be entertaining more patients. But keep in mind that high-paying salaries are also more demanding.
Going to medical school can truly provide you with that dream career, a stable job complete with a hefty salary.
